March 24th - TOUR DIARY UPDATE FROM LEO

Nearly thirty seven years after Woodstock and with new guitar player Joe Gooch in the band we’ve just returned from our first US tour having played nine shows in ten days.

After three years on the road in Europe we’re thankful to have a good following in many countries but we couldn’t help but wonder how TYA would be received in the States after such a long time away from the public eye.

Many of our American musician friends told us that the live music scene was dead and that promoters were to say the least apathetic. However in response to the many fan letters requesting that we play the States we decided to bite the bullet.

With no VH1 special, and no media campaign or record company support, our only strategy was to let people see the band in the hope that they’d like us and spread the word. In that way, just like the first TYA tour in 1968, we hoped the rollercoaster would gain momentum.

I’m thrilled to say that thanks to the enthusiastic support we’ve had from our US fans this has happened. I can’t express how gratifying it was to see so many people turn out to see us play. Thank you everyone. We’ll be back.
